I'm researching the Heeren name that trace back to Ostfriesland Germany. I've seen some data reflecting name changes.. and I'm curious if anyone has a clue as to why. I've heard one description, is due to the persecution of Ana-baptist mennonites. One family tree shows the name moving from Heeren to Wessels to Behrendts.

I would like to inquire about the cost of the OSB's. My grandmother (Meyer) on my father’s side was born and raised in Stapelmoor. I have conducted research on family and found that most of her family resided in the Ostfriesen area. The towns where they came from are Stapelmoor, Diele, Stapelmoorheide, Dieleheide, Wymeer, Nieuw-Schmeeda, Heerenland, Ihrhove, Bellingwolde Wilhelmshaven, and Ochtelbur. The family names are (Meijer – in German Meyer), Nagel, Doornkamp, Graalman, Klaassens, Berends and Blank. I visited Stapelmoor in 1995 and met with relatives during my stay there. They were absolutely wonderful and treated my family like royalty. My grandmother made a trip back in the early and late 1950’s and she came back with 3 books on Ostfriesen. One was printed in 1957 and I’m not sure when the other was printed. The name of the book printed in 1957 is Merian – Ostfriesische Inseln und die Kuste (mit umlaut) Ostfrieslands. The 2nd book is Ostfriesland Langewiesthe-Buchherei (mit umlaut). This book is a collection of black and white pictures (about 45) of the Ostfriesland area. The 3rd book that was printed in the early 1950’s is a history book of Wilhelmshaven written in German. Please let me know the availabilty and cost of the OSB's. Thank you Walt Muelller

If anyone has the Völlen OSB please check #1954 for Hinderk Jurjens married to Engel Jans Nagel. I am hoping the record in the Völlen OSB will lead me to Hinderk Jurjens parents. Also if anyone owns OSB's in towns in the Ostfreisland area aside from Stapelmoor and Wymeer I would be most grateful if the name Peter or Pieter Geerds born around 1726 is in the book. This is one of those brick walls where I need to know the town he came from. He is referenced in the Stapelmoor book #1358 but it doesn't state which town he was born in. I suspect Jemgum or Weener but I don't have those books. Many thanks, Walt
