Hi: I'm searching for any information about a Sarah Johanna Kiwiet or Dora
Kiwiet, believed to be the daughters of Gerhard Kiwiet and  Josephine Dirkson.
Sarah's date of birth is believed to be MAY 1855; she had a son Seraphin,
whose father was Seraphin Oberle from Alsace, and she eventually moved with
him to the United States in about 1881.

Sarah told her grandchild that she was
"von Emden, Ost Friesland am Nordsee." Family stories have it that her family
was connected in some way with a freighter line, and that she and Seraphin
came to the Baltimore, Maryland (U.S.) on a freighter as the only passengers.
Her sister (name unknown) also came to New Orleans in the same manner, but at
a different time. Any clues would be appreciated. Frank Oberle

Hello, I am writing to you with a special request. My father in Wilhelmshaven, East Fresia, now in his mid-80's, has told me about an uncle of his who lived in worked in St. Paul, Minnesota, between the two world wars. Heinrich Becker worked as a salesman for non-alcoholic beverages, was married to a Dutch-born wife, Anna, and wrote a weekly column for a German language publication in St.Paul. He died during the Second World War under unclear circumstances, maybe in an internment camp. Our family never heard from him again. My father has not many yeras left to live. I have now promised him to find out what happened to his beloved uncle. Can you please give me a suggestion how I can go about this? Is there a German language paper in St. Paul I could contact? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you for replying, Manfred Becker

Would you have any information on Albert Alberts Kruger, married to Mettje Adden Mulder (but where and when?) and probably a brother to Geert Alberts Kruger who lived in Stapelmoor?

Albert  (born about 1783, but where?) had a large family (9 children) in the Weener and Bunde areas between 23 Feb 1809 and 25 Oct 1825. My second Great Grandmother (child #8), Grietje Alberts Kruger, was born 11 sep 1822; she moved to Midwolda, Groningen in the Netherlands where she married Fijbe Brunius.

I have been stuck in this line for many decades. Where did Albert come from and what happened to all Grietje's living siblings (1-4)?  Where did they go? Did they emigrate to the US? Albert Alberts Kruger, died after 2 april 1849. His children, from one to nine were born:
Albert (1807), Adde (1809), Christiaan (1811), Jan (1813), Grietje (1816), Grietje (1820), Geert (1821), Grietje (1822), Geert (25 Oct1825-6 Dec 1825)
Could you possibly give me some hints on how to proceed? What do you have on the Kruger line?
Thank you already for any suggestions you might have?  Sincerely,  Frieda Kruger Galbraith

My interest is concerning my grandfather Heye Muller and the generations before him.  My father was Hubert , my uncle Heye and my grandmother Margarthe (Greitje) Janssen Muller.

Grandfather is buried in Emden.  Grandmother Greitje came with her two sons and a boarder named John Pauly.  They married when they reached New York.  They sailed on either the SS Castor or SS Pollux out of  Amsterdam in the spring of 1884.  I have not been able to find a ships manifest for either of these ships.  The only reason I know this is because they named their first dog after the ship they came on but no one knows which one it was.  They were all from Emden and lived near the Ems-Jade Canal.

It is so difficult doing genealogy on this part of Germany, I have just about given up.  I truly hope you can help.

Carol

I am interested in any connection to the Klostermann family from Goldenstedt, Germany. My great, great grandfather came to the U.S. during the 1850's and settled in Kentucky. His families names were Klostermann and Butgenbach. Goldenstedt is very close to Vechta and I understand that it is not a very old town. I have my families tree researched in Goldenstedt as far back as the early 1700's. Does anyone have info further back or during that period that can connect to any of my Klostermann family.

I am seeking information about my husband's family.  His grandmother was Trentje Welp who was born in 1869 in Stapelmoor.. Her parents were Henry Welp and Almiena Kuddlefink Welp.  They came to this country sometime around l880, and she married John Peters on June 2, 1888.

Trentje and John lived in Jackson Township, Crawford County, Iowa and had a family of either 10 or 11 children.  She died in Port Clinton, Ohio on February 27, 1955.  She was there with her daughter at the time. I got this much information from a great grandson, who seems to be the only one interested in genealogy.  He said that John Peters was the son of Herman and Catherine Von Bargen Peters. I have information on the Eiten family that first originated in Loquard, East Friesland. A distant relative of mine was able to trace the family name through several confusing surname changes ( which was a normal tradition from what I understand, I am not sure of the reason why they did that) to the surname of Aits. The family was traced back to Frerich/ Freek Aits who was born in Greetsiel, Ostfriesland on 1731 and died in the same town on 1768. I hope that this might be of some help to someone but what I am interested in is finding out about his father. I am guessing, according to the name changes, his first name might be Aits or something to that effect. If anyone has done work on this family line or who has come across it please let me know. I would be willing to give information on the records that I have leading up to that. Jonathan Eiten,

Am looking for family for FREDERICK KARL BLANCK born August 1, 1863 in Pommern, Germany.  He immigrated to America in 1882, ending up in Elgin, Illinois, Kane County.
Fred's Wife is ELISE BRUNS (sometimes called Eliza?). Born April 2,1868.  She immigrated from Hannover, Germany to America in 1887.  Their children include: DORA BLANCK RANGE, MINNA BLANCK, EMMA BLANCK DEIBERT, FREDERICK BLANCK JR.
Am also trying to trace my DEIBERT roots.  Can get as far back as GEORGE F. DEIBERT born in 1822 in Pennsylvania.  He married SARAH DEWALD born in 1822, also in Pennsylvania.  Their children were MILTON GEORGE DEIBERT, born October 18,1853 or 1852  in Naperville, Illinois, DuPage County, And ELLEN DEIBERT, born in Illinois in 1845. I cannot figure out where in Pennsylvania they come from, and hope for some help so I can continue my search and find out where they came from in Germany.
And, am searching for EDWARD SEYFARTH, born in Gabendorf, Germany.  He married  CLARA EMMA LAUDENBACK, who was born in 1832 in Schwarzburg Germany. I do not know immigration dates, but do know they at one point were in Vinton, Iowa, and was told they spent time in Arkansas.  I know of one child, EMMA MATILDA SEYFARTH, and she was born in Vinton, Iowa.  If anyone has some info that may help, please contact me. Thanks, Janice Deibert Palmer

I am looking for any information on my Grandfather. His name was Andrew Behrands Meyer, born on November 29, 1908 in Grimersum, Ostfriesland, Germany. He was raised by his paternal mother and his step father. He was pretty quiet about his family so we don't know much more. If anyone can help we would be grateful.  Thank you, John Navant

Searching for information about Klaas Behrends from Groothusen and wife "Dena" from Suurhusen per 1880 census living then in Mason County, Illinois. Daughters Annie and Kate or Katie married brothers Heye or Hye Leesman and Henry Leesman also of Mason County Illinois. Seek any information about either family. Kate and Hye were my great-grandparents and I remember them, but did not pay enough attention at the tender age of 3. Both Hye and Kate report being born in US on 1920 census and report parents from Hanover, Germany...I remember a Behrends family reunion about 1955 with hundreds present, so I know I have relatives out there somewhere!  Sheila Bundy

I am looking for the father of Gerd Brunken Schmidt. He was born in 1810, in Bagband, Germany. His father was Bruncken Eylers (he later changed his name to Schmidt). As far as I can figure he would have been born around 1780 +/-  10 years. Any help would be appreciated.  Scott
