and dikes are an important part of the lives of the Ostfriesen residents - even today.

The Orphan Train Movement: Tales of Three Riders
Over 200,000 children between the ages of 3 and 13 were removed from New York City to the labor-short farm communities of Iowa and the Midwest between the years of 1854 and 1929. This movement alleviated a social service "problem" of New York City, and attempted to solve the labor shortage problem in the Midwest. We will investigate three case studies of Ostfriesen foster families, trace the children's lives lived and try to identify their birth parents.
Jill Morelli, Certified Genealogist, will host this session.
